Number 23 - only one day to go - and so to the penultimate item in my Delicious Days of Advent list. The
TTi USB turntable with Ipod dock!

I suspect these have been around for a while, but I've only recently come across them. A USB turntable with an Ipod dock, making it possible to download vinyl directly to your PC or onto your Ipod!!
What a great idea, and it's only
£138.99! I'm sold on this already!

Number 22 - The amazing
ABC3D pop-up book by Marion Bataille.

I think this one is probably on every designer and typographers Christmas list (unless they have it already!) but it's far too wonderful to leave out.
I first posted about this book back in
March when a mock-up version was demonstrated in a short video on
Youtube. The finished book was released in October this year and is every bit as great as I imagined.
At the minute it's only £6.49 on
Amazon (although there is also one
listed for £110.60!! - surely that must be a typo?). It would be a great addition to any coffee table - so grab yourselves a bargain.

Only 3 days of advent to go! Number 21 is a pair of
CYRK posters.
CYRK posters are Polish circus/art posters created during the golden era of the Polish School of Posters (post World War II-1989). They
"achieved a remarkable artistic quality as well as an unmatched degree of popularity".

These are 2 of my favourite ones, designed by Hubert Hilscher (1924 - 1999). There are some original ones for sale
here and
here.

Another book for number 20.
Norman Parkinson Portraits in Fashion by Robert Muir.

I absolutely adore Norman Parkinson's photography and this book includes all my favourite images. It's arranged decade by decade and illustrated with fashion plates, portraits and contact sheets, some of which had never been seen before the book was published.
The hardback edition is available to buy
here and fine art prints are available
here. But if you want to see some of his work in the flesh, our favourite photography gallery,
Arden & Anstruther in Petworth, UK have some Norman Parkinson photographs in their private collection and they normally have at least one on display.

A nostalgic number 19 -
Catalog: The Illustrated History of Mail-Order Shopping by Robin Cherry.

I love old catalogues - the models, the clothes, the poses and the photos, they're so kitsch and fun. This book is a collection of ads and pages from American mail-order catalogues like L.L.Bean and Sears, organised into categories like clothing, food, animals etc... It traces a timeline through American history of fashions and trends through the products available in the catalogues.
Catalog is available to buy in the UK from
here and
here and in the US from
here. A definite on my Christmas list!

No.18 is
The Giant Golden Book of Biology: An introduction to the Science of Life, illustrated by the wonderful Charley Harper in 1961.

I have only ever seen this book on design blogs, but the illustrations and colours look fantastic. These images are from Grain Edits
Flickr group which has loads of great pics from the book.
I would love to own it! Copies do come up on Ebay quite often and there are always some for sale
here, but at prices from $599 it's a serious purchase, so I'm still hoping to find a copy at a boot sale!

A gorgeous number 17 -
Girard Alphabet Blocks by House Industries.

Fun and functional, brightly coloured
alphabet blocks created by House Industries in collaboration with the estate of the late designer, Alexander Girard.
The 28 wooden blocks are made from replenishable, kiln-dried basswood and printed with non-toxic, child friendly inks. The blocks feature
"alphabets based on the forthcoming Alexander Girard font collection and a cleverly-adapted House Industries factory logo puzzle". A great gift for children or adults alike and available
here.

Sweet 16 - the fabulous
Vivienne Westwood Opus! A
"startling insight into Vivienne Westwood, her manifesto and her stunning designs, which reflect the passion of her collections".
It's an amazingly luxurious 90 x 64cm, 200 page publication, filled with 97 giant (80 x 64cm) polaroids of her unique designs and each one is hand-signed by Dame Vivienne Westwood herself.

There are only 900 copies available worldwide in nine cover designs (100 copies per design). The most expensive of these covers - the Union Jack (£2100) has already sold out, but the remaining editions can still be bought
here for £1400.

15 is an old favourite - an original 1958, linen-backed
Vertigo poster.
This rare, 41 x 81" format poster for Hitchcock's 'Vertigo', is my favourite Saul Bass movie poster.
At the Movies have
one available for £8000, along with an original
27 x 41" format version for £5000 and a modern
reproduction for a more palatable £19.99!

I just came across these great Anthony Burrill prints over at
Concrete Hermit. They are a set of 4, A3 digital prints unlike his usual letterpressed versions, but are much more affordable as a gift at £40 for the set.
If however, you would prefer to get your hands on a letterpressed version,
Soma Gallery are taking orders for the latest edition of 'Work hard & be nice to people', expected in-store any day now.

Tina Lilienthal's wonderfully chunky and kitsch jewellery is at no.9.

Her collection combines skull, strawberry, heart, pearl, anchor and scissor details which create fun, quirky pieces; pins, earrings, bracelets and necklaces. I love them all (but Santa, if you are reading this, the cherries are my favourite!)

In Brighton, the wonderful
Jewel Thief has a good selection of the range along with a great selection of other contemporary jewellery.
