Spring Shows

Busy times at Delicious HQ lettering, lino-cutting and printing for our new range of circus and fairground inspired prints, totes and silk scarves ready for our Spring shows.

We're very excited to be doing Pick Me Up for the first time this year, as part of the 'Best Home' collective, the brain child of the lovely Niki Best, "print and graphic arts are all around us, and not just on our walls. We want to show the variety and number of different applications by getting various artists working in mediums that they havent worked in before". Best Home will be bursting with exclusive wallpaper & fabric, ceramics, paper cuts, prints, totes, notebooks and greetings cards from Antony Burrill, Lubna Chowdhary, James Marshall ( Dalek), Danny Sangra, Alex Binnie, Lou Taylor, Curly Mark, INSA, Stewart Easton, Home Slice and Stanley James Press. Best artists will also be running workshops throughout the show including paper-cutting, letterpress, embroidery and printmaking. Pick Me Up 2014 starts on the 24 April and runs until 5 May at Somerset House, London. Check our their website for more information and to book early bird tickets.

In May we'll also be back at AT Openhouse alongside an impressive line-up of artist, designers and printmakers; Alice Pattullo, An Alleweireldt, Becky Blair, Dead Methods, designosaur, hello DODO, Inkyskipper, James Sawyer, Mr Wingate, Nathan James Page, Petting Zoo Prints & Collectables, Sophie Abbott, Teresa Stewart-Goodman, Toypincher and Winsome & Saucy. Of course there'll also be lots of tea, coffee and cake! Artists' Open Houses are open weekends throughout May as part of the Brighton Festival. For more information and to keep up-to-date with artists and plans, check out the AT website.

I'll post up some taster pics over the next month as the new range comes together, so watch this space.

Final weekend of AT Open House

This weekend is your last chance to wander over to AT open house, have a snoop around their beautiful little terrace, sit in the garden, eat lots of delicious cake, drink plenty of tea and of course check out the huge selection of work from 13 artists, designers and printmakers.

To whet your appetite a little more, here are my favourite Petting Zoo & Collectables screen prints available at the house and also in the web shop.

Our friends at Castor & Pollux have a great selection of Dave Thompson's Sussex giclee prints in stock at the moment. Hand-lettered linocuts for AT Open House

Here's our new range of A5 and A4 hand-lettered linocuts available at AT Open house from this weekend.

AT Open House 2013 Line-up

It's almost that time again, in less than a week AT Open house will fling open it's doors for the first Artists Open house weekend.

We'll be there with a selection of letterpress prints, cards, notebooks, totes, vintage circus prints and some new linocuts, as will AT regulars Dead Methods, Snorkus, Alice Pattullo, Petting Zoo, Mr Wingate, Hello Dodo, James Sawyer, Nathan James, Natalie Martin and Winsome & Saucy.

In addition this year, we have a new artist joining the AT gang - fabulous illustrator Claire Scully aka. The Quiet Revolution.

Claire describes her work as, "a mix of strange utopian worlds and parallel universes with juxtapositions of the unexpected, playing with scale and narrative".

I had a sneaky peek at the Giclee prints she's selling at AT open house and believe me, they look good on screen but when you see them up close and full scale, the detail in astounding.

AT open house will be open 11-6 every weekend throughout May. So be sure to pop down and say hello, there's always a fresh pot of tea/coffee on the go and lots and lots of cake!

Fret not, if you can't make it over, you can keep up-to-date on the AT blog and once the show starts all the work will be available in their online shop.

We've been checking out The Mighty Pencil's new site and are loving the work of Bristol based illustration duo Peskimo. So many fun characters, lashings of retro styling and lots of bold, bright colours what's not to like - a perfect bit of Thursday afternoon inspiration.

Quad Royal Daphne Padden Screen Prints

These lovely Daphne Padden collages; Gardener (above left) and London (above right) are now available as screen prints on Ebay courtesy of Quad Royal.

When Daphne died in 2009 these unused collages were discovered in her studio and with the permission of her estate have been turned into screen prints by Quad Royal.

"Daphne Padden was one of the best designers of her generation. Working from the late 1950s until the 1970s, at the same time as artists such as Tom Eckersley and Abram Games, her work is only now being recognised. She created not only posters - for British Railways, Tillings Coaches and commercial companies - but also packaging for companies like Lux and Marks & Spencers. Her trademark style combines simplicity with a touch of humour typical of the mid-century."
