24 Delicious Days of Advent - #1

December the 1st - day one of the 24 Delicious Days of Advent!

We don't have an advent calendar this year, so instead we're going to post one Delicious thing a day from our Christmas Wish list.

Behind door 1 is this fabulous Jamie Reid, 'Nevermind the Bollocks here's the Sex Pistols' original 70's billboard poster (150 x 90mm) from Art Republic a bargain at £1295:

Hatch Show Prints

How gorgeous are these prints from Hatch Show Print? I'm a big fan, and love their book, but had never ventured onto their website until now that is, and I don't think it will be the last time.

It gives a brief history of this fantastic print shop, introduces the people behind it and has a great selection of monoprints (created by Jim Sherraden), original show posters and some 'restrikes' of older posters, all for sale and all as great as the ones above.

Artizan Editions at Castor + Pollux

Brighton Gallery, Castor + Pollux are hosting a great exhibition, ‘Artizan Editions: A printmaking retrospective’ as part of the Brighton Festival Fringe 3 – 26 May. The exhibition is a retrospective of the publishers and proponents of original art in print - Artizan Editions.

We were lucky enough to have a sneak preview at the weekend and it really is a great collection of work from printmaking greats like Bridget Riley and Brian Rice . Plus it’s right on the beach – what more could you want?

Live Now Posters

Eric Smith has created these great posters and is selling them in aid of Live Strong, the Lance Armstrong Foundation. They are for sale on his website, I Draw All Day for only $12.95 + postage, so why not brighten up your office and help a worthy cause!

John Severson, Vintage Surf Photography

I recently came across the surf photography of Surfer Magazine creator, John Severson. John was a pro surfer, turned film maker, producing some of the very first surf movies including 'Big Wednesday' and 'Surf Safari' before starting the magazine and turning his time more to surf photography and graphics.

His photos are of the big wave riders from the late 50's and early 60's printed in black and white. Signed versions are available to buy from Surfer Art along with his paintings, block prints and re-prints of his promotional movie posters.

Central Station Retrospective

The Richard Goodall Gallery in Manchester is holding an exclusive exhibition throughout May 2008 to celebrate 25 years of one of Manchester's legendary design studio, Central Station.

Matt & Pat Carroll and Karen Jackson at Central Station, have produced some of the most iconic design to come out of Manchester, working with Manchester's finest; bands like Happy Mondays & Black Grape, Tony WIlson, The Hacienda and more recently with Michael Winterbottom on the film '24 hour Party People' starring Steve Coogan.

“Central Station’s work is widely accepted as amongst the most influential; they inspired a generation of designers and music fans and helped define the infamous ‘Madchester’ era.” says Richard Goodall the gallery curator.

During the exhibition there will also be a selection of limited edition fine art prints available, so get saving!
